I’m sure due to the highly creative and witty title of this post, you are completely lost as to what this post is about. I’m really trying to keep my readers at the edge of their uncomfortable computer chairs in suspense. Do you think I’m doing a good job?
If you’re unsure — here’s my birthday weekend recap!
Alex left Thursday morning for a work trip, so he and I celebrated my birthday early. We had a delicious dinner at Bonefish Grill! We also went there last year for my birthday — it looks like we may have a new little tradition!
After work on Friday I hopped in the car with my mom and headed to the beach. We didn’t get there until a little later in the evening, but decided to go out to The Starboard anyway. The Starboard is only open from March until October and every year they have a serious celebration for it’s grand opening for the summer season. I’ve been there once before for opening weekend on my 21st birthday and had a dynamite time.
This weekend, we all had fun as well — just on a more low key level.
Friday night was absolutely packed. I ended up with two beers throughout the night before I decided to call it and head home. Sometimes when it’s just so packed you can’t even speak to the person next to you, it’s just not as fun. I woke up in the middle of the night with serious stomach pains and ended up spending most of the night in the bathroom (I’ll spare you the details). By the time morning came, I was feeling a little better.
Saturday morning I spent a couple hours shopping at the outlet mall. My new treasures include new work out shirts from Under Armour, a new pair of shoes from Nine West, a few candles from Yankee, and some work clothes from Banana Republic. I would have to say that I had some pretty good finds for my birthday gifts 🙂 (THANKS MOM!) With incredible outlet prices and unbeatable coupons — I can never justify going to non-outlet versions of my favorite stores.
For lunch we enjoyed a little restaurant called Agave in Lewes, DE. If you ever get a chance to visit this wonderfully cute beachy town, definitely visit this place!
Agave has a fairly small dining area so there can be a short wait, but believe me — it’s worth it! They had the most mouth-watering guacamole with pine nuts and goat cheese mixed in. Oh man! Just thinking about the creamy avocado and crunchy pine nuts is almost unbearable. I will definitely be experimenting with different types of guacamole soon!
A couple margaritas later, we were on our way back to the beach house. We enjoyed a fun happy hour at the house before the nighttime festivities were to begin. Whether it was lack of sleep from my previous night’s stomach problems or my two margaritas, I suddenly crashed! I decided that I would take a quick nap before we went out for the night.
Well, my nap turned into a snooze. I never made it out that evening. In fact, I slept through the whole night and probably got about 12 hours of sleep! Sometimes sleep is just more important, that’s all I can say!
Sunday was my birthday 🙂 A big thank you to everyone who sent me warm, birthday wishes throughout the day!
My day started with apple cinnamon stuffed French toast! YUM! My mom and I spent the rest of the afternoon browsing through little local shops and antique stores. My mom found a beautiful tri-colored pearl necklace at the antique store that she’ll be wearing with her lovely purple dress to the wedding!
It looks similar to this one!
We finally decided to end our fun and hit the road. About an hour and a half into our journey, I started to feel really motion sick. By the time we stopped for dinner, I had to run into the bathroom to get sick again. It was such a strange weekend! I must have a small stomach bug, because I have never, not once in my life gotten car sick! I wasn’t even reading or anything!
Once I got home, I took the rest of the night nice and easy. I unpacked my things and organized everything for another long work week.
Overall my birthday weekend was great — even with some small stomach bumps along the way!!
How was your weekend??
