Six! Woo Hoo!

Last night something amazing happened. Before that magical event, something else very irritating occurred. It normally takes me about 25-30 minutes to get home. Not yesterday though. Oh no no. Yesterday it took me a good hour to get home. I was stopped in traffic for at least 20 minutes before we started rolling along. Trucking along down 695 going 8 miles an hour – way cool. There was no accident. No one had died or was even hurt. Maybe there had been a massive volcano in PA and everyone was driving to MD to escape? You would think I would have heard about that by now though. So whatever happened was very secretive and very annoying to the rest of us working folks.

Sometimes I make up reasons for people who are jerks when they’re driving. It makes me feel a little better knowing that whoever just cut me off has a darn good reason for doing so. Some reasons include:

  • He’s wife is about to have a baby — he has to rush to the hospital of course!
  • He’s late for an interview — he obviously wants to make a good first impression.
  • Her daughter is sick at school — needs to rush her to the doctors and/or get her home.
  • Bathroom issues (that’s all that needs to be said).
  • Trying not to miss a flight.

All are suitable reasons for being in a hurry. Not an excuse for being nasty, but hey we can’t all be perfect πŸ˜‰

Let’s get to the news:

After I finally got home and finished talking to the mister, I decided it was time to get my work out on (yep, I just said that). I wasn’t able to go to the gym at work due to overtime, so I was really itching to run by the time I got home.

I think my motivation also stemmed from being cramped up in the bug for an hour. Anyways — I walked over to our apartment complex “gym,” which consists of 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, and a weight machine. I popped on and after about 6 minutes my ipod died. Erg. Thankfully re-runs of The Office were playing so I had something to keep my mind occupied.

Here’s the news

I ran SIX miles.

SIX. I’ve never been so proud of myself and I had to share it with all of you πŸ™‚ Alex’s sister and I are talking about talking signing up for a half marathon so I’m really going to start pushing myself.

I thought my muscles would be really tight this morning, but surprisingly I feel completely fine. Each week I hope to add another mile. Wish me luck!

Remember when I posted my awesome red face after a work out back in March? Here was my red face over an hour after I finished last night. Not so bad, huh?

Tired and sweaty.

This next picture isn’t the best quality because I was shaking the camera (you’ll see why) but it’s still pretty funny.

Yummmy -- salt!

He apologized after I was clean.

Sorry Momma!

Moving on:

Pictures from the wedding are still surfacing on facebook. Just in case you are still unsure if I had a good time — check this two beauties out.

That's the face of a good time!

And my all time favorite picture of me

  1. NOTHING is more frustrating than sitting in traffic when you have no idea why you are at a standstill!

and 6 miles! Nice! that’s the longest I’ve run and it’s pretty touch I think.
