Down on Easy Street

Friday evening I arrived at my mom’s house. We had a delicious pork tenderloin for dinner and hung around the house. Later that evening we got in the hot tub and eased our sore muscles. We had a great time reminiscing about the time Hunter decided to take a dip with us! After the hot tub — we were both pretty beat and decided to hit the hay pretty early. Saturday morning we were up early and on the road to West Virginia.

Once we made the 2 1/2 hour drive, we spent a nice portion of Saturday relaxing. Of course we still stopped by the local WalMart (like always). We picked up ingredients for dinner and other numerous odds and ends. The rest of the day was spent lazing about. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we sat out on the porch and read for a while. We also had a ton of wedding talk!

Our weekend activities

Although it was nice to get away from everything and have a lot of quality mother-daughter time, it also made Alex’s absence very apparent. It was only two months ago that we were in WV and got engaged! Even more recent — we were just up here for July 4th. Where did all the time go??

Last night we enjoyed a glass of wine as we watched Life as a House. If you’ve never seen this movie, rent it — buy it, whatever — just see it. It’s a crier though. Watch it when you’re in the mood to let loose and have a good cry. My mom and I were quite the sight last night 🙂 Aren’t you sad you missed it?

Today has been more productive. We took our weekend hike through the mountains and the dogs had a nice swim. The weather has seemed like fall all weekend! It’s been making me so excited for cooler weather. I can’t wait for the leaves to start changing and perfect sweatshirt and jeans weather! Woo Hoo! (And it makes me excited for football season too!)

The first signs of fall

Hello HunterBud

Unfortunately we had to return something at WalMart and had to drive back in town. Both of us were just about ready to pack up and head home when we stopped at a local Farmer’s Market. The fruit and veggies we so fresh, we couldn’t help ourselves!

We ended up buying corn on the cob, fresh honey, cantaloupe, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, and a half of a bushel of peaches!!

YUMMY

I cannot wait to eat you 🙂

WV Peach!

Mmm. Mmm!

Peach Cobbler recipe to come! We’re still in WV— still baking! Do I have to go to work tomorrow?
