Gifts for Yourself

Enjoy a little Matt while you browse ๐Ÿ™‚

One thing I really idolize about certain people is their ability to holiday shop for people year round. These are the same people who never have to go to the mall at Christmas time and six months into the year are usually finished with their shopping already. They don’t have to wait in lines andย they don’t have to pay ridiculously high prices to get everything accomplished in a matter or days. Actually they usually get things for great prices because they snag things that are on sale at different times through the year.

Hopefully one day I’ll be that kind of gal.

One thing I was contemplating last night was giving gifts back to yourself. Of course there is always that random shoe purchase, a bottle of wine, or a night out with your girlfriends — but what about the rest of the year? Every day should be treated as it’s just as special as those perfect days you rarely experience. I started thinking what are some things that we can treat ourselves to every day?

Things you enjoy! There are plenty of things that you enjoy that don’t require any money whatsoever. Some things include:

  • Taking your dog for a walk
  • Taking a bath
  • Reading a good book
  • Meditating
  • Listening to relaxing music
  • Visiting old friends
  • Window shopping ๐Ÿ™‚

Other things will require some money — but in the long run, they’re worth it. Sometimes it’s nice to splurge a little bit on yourself. I mean it is your hard earned money! What else is life about if your constantly working but not spending any of the money on yourself. You have to make yourself happy. If that means buying a piece of jewelry you’ve been eyeing for months then so what?!

Now of course buying happiness is not something I believe in, so it’s nothing that I suggest doing often. It is a nice feeling though —

Coming to work in a cute new summer skirt.

Treating your man/woman/mom/dad/friend to a night out.

Buying new decorations for your home.

Having a freshly done pedicure. Ahhhh.

Treat yourself to something nice every once in awhile. It’ll rejuvenate you! I pinky promise ๐Ÿ˜‰

Other News

Blondie (my family’s dog: most recently seen here) has a tooth infection ๐Ÿ˜ฆ It’s been a sad week for our pets. Hopefully the antibiotics will help clear the infection up or he might need surgery to remove the tooth. Read about his condition here.

This afternoon I got another call from Alex! We were able to talk for much longer than we have every other time we talked so we were able to make some future plans! We talked about taking a vacation when he gets back in town. Now I’ll have something else to plan while he’s away! Some of our ideas are going to NYC, seeing some Broadway shows, doing the whole Christmas thing, going up to Niagara Falls… stuff like that. Orrr we’re talking about going down south somewhere. We’re definitely more into seeing sights and history rather than hanging out on the beach — so it’ll take some planning.

Do you have any suggestions of a good vacation around November or December?

We also got a chance to talk about our wedding, our future house, and even babies ๐Ÿ™‚ We both want kids in the next few years. Originally I wanted to get my Master’s before we even thought about kids — but I’ve been having baby fever recently. Every time I see a cute mom and little kids I giggle and imagine it asย myself. It’s horrible. Hopefully that goes away soon ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve also started looking at wedding dresses ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
