Today I stepped out of my comfort range. For a few weeks now, one of the instructors at the gym have been trying to persuade me to take some classes. I’ve always liked fitness classes, but there are limited that are offered in the morning before work. The only class that’s offered regularly is:
I’ve never taken a cycling class before and to be honest I was very wary of taking one. As I pass by the cyclin’ maniacs in the morning all I hear is yelling and grunting. I’ve heard horror stories about the pain you experience the day after your first cycling class. Anywho — I walked into the gym today and a cycling class was about to begin when I got hassled by the instructor again, “Michelle there’s an extra spot — want to jump in??”
For some unknown reason, “sure” popped out of my mouth before I had a chance to think about it. I was immediately kicking myself as I hurried towards to locker room to dump my stuff. The instructor gave me a break down of things I would need to know before we got started.
And let me tell you….
—- which I was completely surprised about!
The cycling was broken up by bursts of strength training/even more aerobics. For example, we would do a song of biking, jump off the bike, then do 1 jumping jack – 1 push up — then 2 jumping jacks – 2 push ups — all the way up until 10 of each, then climb back on the bike for more.
I was sweaty
and drank my entire 24 oz water bottle.
But I survived — and that’s what got me pumped up! I’m looking forward to taking more classes in the future and I’m glad I got over my fear of cycling. I’m sure I’ll have different thoughts when I wake up in the morning and assess how sore I am.
Alex and I are enjoying spending our last full week together. We’ve pretty much got everything handled wedding wise for him to leave, so that’s definitely a big relief! This weekend we’re having a going away party for him. I’m sure it’ll be lots of fun, but definitely sad. It’s a weird feeling knowing it’s so close — and there’s nothing to stop it. I’m looking to take a few days off at the end of this week/beginning of next week.
