White Chocolate Strawberries with Citrus Sugar

A few weeks ago I saw this recipe posted on Julie’s blog. I’ve been oogling it since I first saw the recipe and decided it was finally time to tackle it! I didn’t make too many changes. I subsitituted Sugar in the Raw for regular sugar and used a little more orange and lemon peel than it called for.

White Chocolate Dipped Strawberries with Citrus Sugar


  • 2 tablespoons sugar (I used Raw sugar)
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely grated orange peel (little more)
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon peel (little more)
  • 6 ounces high-quality white chocolate (such as Lindt or Perugina) (I used Giradelli white chocolate chips)
  • 16 large ripe strawberries


  1. Line a baking sheet with foil
  2. Mix together sugar and peels until the sugar is moist
  3. Met chocolate in a double boiler over simmering water
  4. Stir until melted
  5. Dip strawberry into melted chocolated (2/3 of the way) – shake off excess
  6. Sprinkle with citrus sugar
  7. Place on baking sheet
  8. Cool for a half hour

Then use the extra sugar and peel to accomany some wine!
